Oklahoma Academy of Family Physicians is a well-respected organization with engaged physicians who want the best for their patients and their community. With more than 560 doctors, OU Physicians is the state’s largest physician group and encompasses almost every adult and child specialty. OAAC is one of the oldest, largest and most respected allergy, asthma and immunology centers in the United States. Founded in 1925 by Dr. Ray Balyeat, a pioneer in the specialty of allergy medicine, the Clinic is recognized nationally for the thorough, advanced treatment provided to patients of all ages. Dedicated to the diagnosis, management and education of allergic and asthmatic disorders, OAAC has played a major role in the development of national guidelines for treating allergic disease. The practice has satellite locations in Norman, Midwest City, North OKC and Edmond in addition to the central office located on the Oklahoma Health Center campus. Physicians Liability Insurance Company (PLICO) was formed in 1979 by the Oklahoma State Medical Association to serve Oklahoma Physicians. Over the next two decades, many thousands of physicians would place their trust in professional liability insurance coverage from PLICO. Then, in 1997, PLICO began extending liability coverage to Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine. Today, more than 450 D.O.’s have come to rely on PLICO for their professional liability needs. Since issuing its very first policy, PLICO has been managed by physicians for physicians. We are an outspoken advocate for medicine and care passionately for the advancement of Oklahoma health care and patient safety.
